Event Information
In this one hour session Ralph will lead us in a half hour presentation and then facilitate a half hour open discussion on supply chain disruptions, inflation, supply demand and cost push drivers, lead times, and graphic trends. He will share the many education offerings on flexo and other printing technologies that are available from the AICC and The Packaging School. We will discuss the independents large capital investments over the last two years and how success has followed. With his background in substrates he will share how those are getting thinner, lighter, and mostly engineered with recovered fibres and the printing challenges represented.

MEET YOUR SPEAKER
Ralph Young, Technical Advisor, AICC
The Independent Packaging Association
Ralph serves as the Technical Advisor to the AICC and is involved in the ASKRALPH membership service touching more than 350 members and associates each year. He spent his entire corporate career in the forest products industry investing the last 38 years in the paper and corrugated packaging segment. He has worked in woodlands, primary manufacturing, sales and sales management, marketing, business planning and communications, with four different assignments in product development. He was there when the industry moved to ECT from Mullen and now right weight packaging. His companies have included Champion International-twice, Georgia-Pacific (Great Southern Paper), International Paper and Mead Containerboard. He is a Vietnam veteran.
He is a well known speaker and expert on the technical aspects of corrugated packaging and box engineering. He is also an often requested writer for trade publications. His current consulting company has taken him into the areas of technical expertise in legal cases, economic research, product placements for foreign manufactures, mergers and acquisitions, developing process improvement programs, new containerboard machine projects, and connecting with non-profit organizations. He is a member of TAPPI, ASTM, and IOPP. Ralph has contributed more than 72 article to BoxScore, authored white papers, E leaning modules, education content for The Packaging School, and the Corrugated Packaging Essentials seminar.
He earned a BS in Forest Management and an MBA. He consumes life with his wife of fifty-four years in Roswell, GA where together they invest in the lives of their four grandchildren, and he ministers as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church of America and as Chaplain Emeritus of Trail Life USA Troop 317.
